Bukit Jambul is a small but prosperous town in the state of Penang. It is located on the bustling little island, and is a popular place to call home. Bukit Jambul, as its name implies, is located on elevated land. It is located closer to the south of the island, and is neighboured by Bayan Baru, Bukit Gambier and Relau.
This quaint little town has been around for a long time, and boasts a queer mixture of modern structures and quiet little village type neighbourhoods. Most of the homes here are situated on elevated land, which the locals believe to be good Feng Shui. Aside from providing them a breezy and serene neighbourhood, this neighbourhood is also makes a great home.
In terms of local economics, Bukit Jambul sells on its peaceful environment which holiday-goers love its serenity. The biggest hotel in this district is the Equatorial Hotel, which was built in 1984. The hotel overlooks the rolling green hills of the area, and is backed by mountains. Among some of its smaller competitors are Alora Hotel and Vistana Hotel, which the latter boasts picturesque views of the Bayan Lepas skyline.
Bukit Jambul is a healthy and self-sufficient community that has its own amenities, medical centres and F&B outlets. They even have some nationally renowned franchises such as Daorae, a Korean barbecue restaurant, and a Kampachi Japanese Restaurant.
While Bukit Jambul does not have any of the historical attractions common to the island, their local attraction is the Penang Golf Club. Among some of their lesser known local attractions is also the butterfly farm; and also a favourite of local fitness enthusiasts is the Bukit Jambul Hiking Trail. The trail includes clambering over rocks, and the peak offers panoramic views of the Penang Island and a free supply of herbal tea and hot water. There is also a donation box there for those who wish to make a donation.
The main trunk road of Bukit Jambul is Solok Bukit Jambul, which connects to Jalan Tun Dr Awang and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah. The capital, Georgetown is only 20 minutes away and the Penang mainland at approximately 15 minutes in clear traffic.
