Seremban is a district located in the state of Negeri Sembilan, and is also the state's capital. A land full of history and culture, it was first known as Sungai Ujong, and was discovered thanks to the tin mining activities in the 1870s. That brought in an influx of Arab, Malay and Chinese immigrants to work on the mines and farms.
Culturally, the Seremban is the centre of the Minangkabau heritage in the country, famous for its unique architecture that resembles buffalo horns. Apart from that, the district is well known for its food as well, especially its 'Siew Pau' (baked buns). The Seremban Siew Pau was such a hit it spread across the country, making it a snack well-loved by Malaysians. Another one of its popular delicacies include the baked crab, which attracts throngs of local and foreign tourists to the city.
Due to that, the district has turned into a melting pot of culture, and remains as one of the districts where its heritage is still in tact, despite the surge of urbanisation of late. The district has also seen a steep rise in population, rising to more than a million people in less than 20 years. Not to mention that the price of properties here is relatively cheaper compared to properties in Kuala Lumpur, which also has a big part to play over the spillover factor. The statistic is expected to go even higher, with the Malaysia Vision Valley project, which includes Seremban in its development.
There has been a surge of economic growth in Seremban, because of its location next to Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The spillover from the over-congested Kuala Lumpur area plays a big role, and the development of the district is still on-going, with townships such as Seremban 2 and Bandar Sri Sendayan playing a significant role in introducing new properties into the area.
Seremban has two major highways running along it, making it a transit town, beneficial for investors. The major highways include the LEKAS Highway, which connects the district to Mantin, Nilai and other parts of Negeri Sembilan, and the North-South Highway (NSE).
