Botanica Walk is an upcoming shopping mall located in the Botanica CT development in Balik Pulau, on the western side of the Penang Island. The pedestrian commercial village will be situated just off Jalan Sungai Pinang, the main road passing through Balik Pulau, resulting in high visibility and convenient access via buses 403, 404 and 501.
When it opens in early 2018, Botanica Walk is targeted to have over 80 single- and double-storey food and beverage outlets, as well as a 3-storey anchor tenant, providing the residents of the Botanica CT neighbourhood a sophisticated yet laid-back destination inspired by European shopping streets and arcades, where they can indulge in retail therapy, bond with their community and families, as well as fulfil their daily necessities.
Since construction began on Botanica CT in 2006, it has come to be known as one of the first major developments in the under-explored area of Balik Pulau. Within the 300-acre garden township, there is an international school – the Prince of Wales Island International School – as well as several phases of residential properties such as sprawling exclusive hillside villas, bungalows, semi-detached houses and link houses.
Location-wise, Botanica Walk is considerably far from other towns on the Penang Island other than Balik Pulau, with the nearest towns being Teluk Kumbar (15km away), Sungai Ara (16km away) and Teluk Bahang (more than 17km away).
However, there is good potential for the mall as up till now there are no major malls in Balik Pulau, despite there being numerous residential developments and villages in the area. In the coming years development activity in the Balik Pulau area is also expected to increase, as developers expand westward from the congested eastern side of the Penang Island.
