Bukit Dumbar Permai located in Gelugor, Penang, is a freehold apartment residence which towers at 21 storeys tall. Completed in 1998, the single-block residence holds 114 units and appears to be in rather good condition despite its age.
The apartment homes at Bukit Dumbar Permai come in 2 types - standard units and penthouse units. There are 108 standard units, all between the built-up sizes of 880 sf to 1,160 sf, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The penthouses are more exclusive, with just 6 units sized at a spacious 2,310 sf.
The Bukit Dumbar Permai homes were launched at about RM200,000 and are now worth at least RM550,000 on the market. Rental is considerably mid-range, at about RM1,000 per month. However, for that price, it may be well to see what other newer developments are available. However, should location be a major factor, then Bukit Dumbar Permai is worth considering as newer homes in the area may cost well over that price.
Facilities offered at Bukit Dumbar Permai are numerous, despite being of apartment type. These include a swimming pool, wading pool, gymnasium, tennis court, squash court, children’s playground, landscaped garden and even a mini market within the property. There are also covered parking lots for residents while a separate parking lot is available for visitors as well as 24-hour security.
Though Bukit Dumbar Permai is not within walking distance of amenities, there is a Tesco hypermarket and the Udini Square commercial hub located just a few minutes’ drive away down Jalan Tunku Kudin where the property is situated. Apart from that, the e-Gate commercial hub is also in the area where banks, eateries, restaurants and more can be found. Schools will also require a short drive, such as SK Jelutong Barat, SMK Hamid Khan and SK Bukit Gelugor all within 10 minutes’ drive from the residence. Hence, it may not be convenient for those without their own transportation to live in Bukit Dumbar Permai.
Bukit Dumbar Permai is situated along Jalan Tunku Kudin, which to the east, connects to the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway while to the west, links to Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and the Gelugor Highway. As such, the property is rather convenient, with the first Penang bridge under 5 minutes away while Georgetown is just slightly over 10 minutes’ northwards. The town of Bayan Lepas as well as access to the second Penang bridge on the other hand, are about 15 minutes away when traffic is smooth.
