Taman Bayu Timur is a residential neighbourhood of semi-detached homes within the bustling town of Tanjung Tokong, Penang. The neighbourhood appears rather new, and is considerably neat and clean but is not gated nor guarded. The double-storey homes look much more sizeable than they are, with high porch roofs and tall structures.
The homes at Taman Bayu Timur have built-up sizes beginning from 2,002 sf while also having additional garden land within their compounds. The porch is rather small for the size of the homes, being able to fit only 1 car. However, most of the homes have been renovated, with many choosing to cement and tile the garden beside the porch and having 2 gates to be able to park 2 cars.
Subsale prices of the homes in the seemingly upscale neighbourhood of Taman Bayu Timur begin from just under RM2.2 million, which is rather high given that the development is not gated and guarded nor provides any facilities. Nonetheless, the price for landed homes on the island is commonly high, what more those which are in a matured and established town.
The location of Taman Bayu Timur is favourable, located along Solok Chong Lye Hin just off Jalan Tanjung Tokong. The neighbourhood is surrounded by a good number of commercial hubs, with countless amenities such as convenience stores, eateries, restaurants, cafes, banks, clinics, petrol stations and more just along Jalan Tanjung Tokong nearby. Other than that, there is also a Tesco hypermarket in Seri Tanjung Pinang, about 5 minutes’ drive away. Straits Quay Marina Mall is also located in the same area.
To add, Island Plaza along Jalan Tanjung Tokong and the popular Gurney Paragon and Gurney Plaza malls are also just over 5 minutes away at Gurney Drive. Schools nearby include the Penang Chinese Girls High School, SMK Tanjung Bungah, while the Pelita International, SMK Tanjong Bungah and SJK (C) Hun Bin are slightly further away in Tanjung Bungah.
Jalan Tanjung Tokong is the main access road connecting the town of Tanjung Tokong to Georgetown, southeastwards and Tanjung Bungah, all the way up to Batu Ferringhi northwest of Taman Bayu Timur. As such, the neighbourhood enjoy great accessibility to other parts of town and the island. However, traffic along Jalan Tanjung Tokong is known to be heavy.
Main roads which lead to the city include Jalan Kelawai, Jalan Bagan Jermal, Gurney drive, and Jalan Burma. Jalan Burma can also link to Pengkalan Weld and the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway. Another major road which can lead southeast of the island is Jalan Mount Erskine. With that, Georgetown is about 10 minutes away, while the first Penang bridge is approximately 20 minutes away via either routes.
