Taman Desa Damai is a long-established neighbourhood of commercial and residential properties located in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. It consists of a good mix of apartments and terraces complemented by shop offices.
Taman Desa Damai appeals to people of different sociocultural backgrounds, with 2 low-cost apartments while the terraces are mid-range. One of the apartment residences also has shop lots on the ground floor while the other is purely residential. The terraces appear to be of comfortable size, with wide and spacious porches.
The commercial lots of Taman Desa Damai do not provide residents with basic amenities. Despite housing an eatery or two, most of the other businesses there are automotive-related. As such, residents have to take a quick drive to the commercial hubs off Jalan Padang Lalang nearby, where banks, food courts, cafes, bakeries, clinics, supermarkets, florists and the likes are available.
Just up another main road, Jalan Nangka will also lead to the AEON Seberang Perai mall. Schools within the vicinities of Taman Desa Damai include SK Sungai Rambai, SRJK (C) Keow Kuang, SMK Permatang Rawa, and SK Kebun Sireh.
Though not too far off, Taman Desa Damai is not directly accessible to major roadways. To access the North-South Expressway, residents will have to travel along Jalan Nangka, where on the northern end of it is Jalan Muthu Palaniappan. From there, Jalan Baru is a few minutes’ west of the road. Further up Jalan Baru will lead to the North-South Expressway (NSE) and also the first Penang bridge, which will all take about 10 minutes’ drive.
