Taman Ilmu is a mixed neighbourhood of commercial and residential properties located in the town of Nibong Tebal, Penang. There is a wide variety of homes within, ranging from apartments, terraces, and semi-detacheds.

The terraces at Taman Ilmu come in single-storey and double-storey variants with different designs and layouts, all built and completed throughout the years. The older terraces appear to be designed for affordability, with many of them being simple, and narrow structures with zinc roofing. Though there are some which are mid-range.

The more recent terraces, along with some single-storey semi-detacheds on the other hand, are much more spacious, designed with stucco walls and modern glass windows. The apartment also appears to be newer.

Units at Taman Ilmu are freehold and begin from built-up spaces of 1,200 sf, ample for most families of between 3 to 5 people. Prices of properties within the neighbourhood are also rather affordable, beginning from RM240,000. Rental is also in the middle range, at RM1,200 per month or more.

The commercial shop lots of Taman Ilmu provide basic amenities to its residents, with conveniences like a mini market and launderette. More amenities will require a drive down Jalan Transkrian, where there are eateries, convenience stores and more.

The town centre of Nibong Tebal and Parit Buntar are also not too far off via Jalan Bagan Serai-Parit Buntar. Though the neighbourhood is closer to the town of Nibong Tebal, Parit Buntar offers much more, with a Mydin Mall, Kerian Sentral Mall, Econsave supermarket, Hospital Parit Buntar, and also many banks and clinics. Schools are also aplenty there, like SK Methodist, SMK Panglima Bukit Gantang, SMJK Krian, SMK Seri Perak and others.

Jalan Transkrian is the road which connects Taman Ilmu to and from the main road of Jalan Bagan Serai-Parit Buntar. The route is then connected to the North-South Expressway (NSE), where the second Penang bridge is approximately 20 minutes away.
