Jalan Anson, located in Georgetown, is one of Penang's main roads, stretching from its intersection with Jalan Burma all the way to the junction where it meets Jalan Perak. The properties situated along the road are mostly institutions and commercial outlets, such as Wisma TNB and the governmental offices of Bangunan Persekutuan Pulau Pinang. KDU College Penang and the PTPL Penang also stand along Jalan Anson, resulting in a healthy student crowd frequenting the businesses along it. Residential properties along Jalan Anson include the Anson Apartment, a 10-storey freehold apartment with low-density units. Residents living in Jalan Anson area will also appreciate that within a short distance are schools like SJK (C) Tong Sian, SK Francis Light and SMJK Convent Datuk Keramat. Conveniences on Jalan Anson include the Anson Road Market, a compact wet market housed in and around a pre-war structure, Anson Park, a mid-range hawker centre and the Padang Brown food complex at the Jalan Perak end of the road, where one can find Penang street food in the evening, in addition to banks, a petrol station and eateries. Transport-wise, several Rapid Penang buses pass by Anson Road such as bus 10, which travels across the state capital between the Georgetown jetty and the Penang Botanic Gardens via Gurney Drive, as well as bus 103, which goes to and fro between Komtar and Bagan Jermal in Georgetown via Pulau Tikus. Along with the fact that there are many roads leading off Jalan Anson, it is a very accessible location indeed. However, with its good accessibility, walking-distance proximity to the heart of the city centre and the abundance of shops and offices around the area, it can get very congested especially during peak hours.
