About Lebuh Pasar

Properties for Rent in Lebuh Pasar

Lebuh Pasar in Georgetown, Penang, is a street located within the UNESCO Heritage Site Core Zone. The road had gotten its name after a shoreside market which was located on Market Street Ghaut, before the reclamation of land upon which Victoria Street and Weld Quay are situated today. The market still stands and is fully functioning till now. Lebuh Pasar, has become more commonly known as “Little India” by local Penangites, given the conspicuous presence of many south Indians who had settled along the street centuries ago. Hence, the stretch of double and triple storey pre-war shophouses are now home to many colourful textile shops, saree boutiques, money changers, prayer supplies shops as well as eateries. Amenities within the vicinities of Lebuh Pasar are also aplenty, with banks, cafes, hotels, hawker centres among others. Places of interest like the Sun Yat Sen Museum, Pinang Peranakan Mansion and the Clan Jetties are also within walking distance. Located between Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling and Beach Street on either ends respectively, Lebuh Pasar is just two streets away from Pengkalan Weld. The street also runs parallel to Lebuh Armenian, also two streets away, and is situated close to other popular streets such as Lebuh Chulia, Love Lane, Jalan Muntri, Lebuh Farquhar and Lebuh Light. Most shop units along Lebuh Pasar are occupied, however, the few available on the market carry a hefty price tag of about RM1,950,000 which is typical for pre-war properties in the area. Hence, investing in the area may require deep pockets and the right timing when any units come onto the market.
