About Kajang

Properties for Sale in Kajang

Kajang has been coined "Satay Town" by tourists and locals due its reputation of producing exceptional satay. However, there is so much more to this town other than their must-eat skewered meat.

Kajang was founded in 1807 after the Klang War and became the district capital of Hulu Langat due to its central location. There are numerous theories on how the place was given its name. One of them is that there used to be an abundance of bamboo and palm leaves around the area, a fact that aligns with the Malay dictionary that defines ‘kajang’ as stuffed objects from leaves such as bamboo, palm leaves or mengkuang.

The population in Kajang has been steadily increasing because the houses in the outskirts area are more affordable compared to the city centre. The town hosts a number of shopping complexes including the Billion Shopping Center, Metro Point Complex, Union Square, and De Centrum Mall. It is also surrounded by plenty of other amenities such as healthcare, supermarkets, recreational parks and a variety of educational institutions. The lifestyle here could be described as a reprieve from the rush of the city whilst still having all the entertainment you need within the town.

Kajang is located 20 km southeast of downtown Kuala Lumpur, about a 30-minute drive away. Easily accessible by MRT, this area is riddled with hidden local gems to keep you sated with all kinds of good food.

It is connected to many major highways such as the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK), Kajang–Seremban Highway (Lekas), Southern Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) and the Cheras–Kajang Expressway (CKE).

The town is seeing more development as a growing number of developers are starting to recognise its potential. It is the perfect neighbourhood for families who seek easy access to the city centre along with an assortment of public activities.
