About Keramat

Properties for Sale in Keramat

Keramat is a rather large township in Kuala Lumpur in the Titiwangsa constituency, falling within the boundary of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Located northeast of downtown Kuala Lumpur and bordering the Ampang district in Selangor, Keramat is approximately 13km away from the KL city centre and about an hour’s drive from KLIA.

Kampung Datuk Keramat is its official name, but the locals prefer to call it by its old name, Keramat. The Klang River, which runs roughly from northeast to the west, acts as a natural divider between Keramat and Ampang.

The township is traditionally a Malay-majority area and consists mainly of residential properties, albeit a very old one. Many of the residential properties here are hand-me-downs from parents to their children, and new development for high rises is almost non-existent. The only three high rise condominiums in Keramat are The Palladium, Gurney Heights, and Lanai Gurney, which are considered to be relatively new compared to the existing landed property.

The residents of Keramat can enjoy a wide range of public amenities and facilities to meet their daily needs via access to shopping malls, international and local banks, national and international schools, as well as a local wet market.

The closest medical centres to Keramat are the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) and the General Hospital. There were plans to renovate the Keramat Shopping Mall with the renovation work starting between April and May 2014. However, until now, there are no news of when its completion date will be.

Keramat is easily accessible as it shares a number of highways with Ampang and Kuala Lumpur. Jalan Semarak and Jalan Jelatek are the main roads of Keramat which connect to Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Ampang, respectively. Residents in Keramat can also opt to use public transport as there are three LRT stations that service this township, namely the Jelatek LRT station, Dato’ Keramat LRT station, and Damai LRT station.
