Batu Caves is the name of the legendary Hindu shrine located within Kuala Lumpur; and is also the name of the neighborhood surrounding these infamous caves. Located in an area where the primary ethnicity group are Indians and Malays, Batu Caves is the main focal point of Thaipusam.

The neighborhood of Batu Caves is one that offers buyers affordable housing within proximity to the city, along with excellent highway connections. The majority of the residents here are of the lower middle to middle income group.

Despite being close to the city, there are not very many new developments in this town. There are however new residential areas which the built-ups are very large, at very affordable prices.

Property investors do not generally purchase property within this area despite bigger homes at lower prices, with better options barely 20 minutes away at Jalan Ipoh. The traffic to Batu Caves is usually also a mess of traffic snarl during peak hours, adding a possible additional hour of travel from Jalan Ipoh itself.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.

Taman Sri Gombak area is about 15 minutes drive from Batu Caves temple..Area is a bit congested because too many shophouses. Very difficult to get parking spaces during lunch hour.
