Mutiara Damansara, which translates to the ‘Pearl of Damansara’, is a major affluent township in Petaling Jaya. Much like its name, the township exudes radiance because of its excellent connectivity and massive range of amenities. It is surrounded by other major neighbourhoods such as Damansara Perdana, Bandar Utama, Kota Damansara, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, and Sunway Damansara.

Mutiara Damansara was once a 355-acre palm oil and rubber plantation. It was later developed into a residential area that comprises terraces, bungalows and semi-Ds. The area then further evolved to include high-rises and successful commercial areas.

Mutiara Damansara is a well-planned township with a strategic location; being nestled among popular townships along with everything you need nearby. Moreover, properties here are mostly freehold with thriving commercial and residential areas. This makes it a highly desirable neighbourhood among homebuyers. Due to high demand and low supply, residential property prices in Mutiara Damansara are among the highest in the area.

The excellent living environment here is contributed by the availability of green lung spaces, healthcare, education and malls in the vicinity.

Mutiara Damansara has one of the largest IKEAs in Malaysia measuring at 75,000 square metres. It is connected to the IPC Shopping Centre so visitors can enjoy the convenience of retail therapy and furniture shopping all in one day. Nearby residents who crave IKEA meatballs and curry puffs can also drop by anytime to grab some. The township is also home to The Curve, a mall with rows of restaurants facing a cosy outdoor ambiance.

You can access this area via major highways such as LDP, SPRINT Expressway and Penchala Link. For public transportation, there is MRT Mutiara Damansara that links to the Kelana Jaya LRT line, and a number of bus lines.

With a few malls and hypermarket in the vicinity, the traffic is heavy along the main road especially during peak hours. Otherwise a good gated living environment.

For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.644% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 2.093% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.448% in the year 2014 while surging by 2.523% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.
