Pusat Bandar Puchong started out as a small town in the 1960s with rubber estates and tin mines as its major economies. Only two years later was a single two-lane road constructed to run through the estates and the villages. That was 54 years ago.

Now, Pusat Bandar Puchong has graduated from a small town to a major town in the Petaling district of Selangor, thanks to rapid development and urbanisation. These large-scale changes have brought many industrial parks, commercial centres, and residential areas.

Situated midway between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, new townships have also begun to appear centred around Pusat Bandar Puchong, such as Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong Hartamas, Puchong Utama, Puchong Prima, Bandar Bukit Puchong, Saujana Puchong and Bandar Puteri Puchong.

Transportation in and out of Pusat Bandar Puchong has never seen better days than it has today. One can choose from a spider-web chain of highways (the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), the Puchong-Sungai Besi Highway, Federal Highway, Shah Alam Expressway, and the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) to get into Puchong from other parts of Klang Valley.
