Langkap is a small town in Perak, not to be confused with Langkap in Negeri Sembilan. It is accessible mainly via Jalan Kampar-Changkat Jong, which stretches from Kampar in northern Perak to Changkat Jong in southern Perak. Further north, the trunk road then joins up with Federal Route 1, the old thoroughfare running through Peninsular Malaysia.

A major activity in Langkap is agriculture, such as rubber tapping. Some manufacturing factories are also located in the outskirts of the town as well, be it in the Langkap light industrial area or in neighbourhoods like Kampung Langkap.

The commercial activity in the town is centred on either side of the trunk road, as well as main roads like Jalan Besar and Jalan Chui Chak. There are a few banks in town like Hong Leong Bank, CIMB Bank and AmBank, a post office, schools including SK St Anthony, SJK (C) Wah Keow, and SMK Dato’ Sagor, petrol stations, eateries and a variety of shops.

A short drive away from the town centre of Langkap are other smaller towns, for example Chui Chak. Predominantly populated by Chinese residents who work in the agricultural industry, the town is served by a Chinese school, and has a Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority building and various residential developments in its vicinity.

Two important towns that are located nearest to Langkap are Teluk Intan and Tapah, both about 24km (or a 25-minute drive) away via Jalan Kampar-Changkat Jong and Jalan Changkat Jong for the former, and Jalan Kampar-Changkat Jong and then Jalan Tapah for the latter.

Teluk Intan is the larger of the two towns, with facilities like Hospital Teluk Intan, Anson Bay Medical Centre, schools and tertiary educational institutions, lively commercial centres and business parks, a Giant hypermarket and other supermarkets, banks, a cinema, and the famous tourist spot, the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan.

Tapah, on the other hand, is known as the point where motorists enter Cameron Highlands, if they are taking the old route. It also has a hospital, various banks, hotels, government buildings, schools and eateries. Tapah is also where motorists travelling from Langkap can connect to the North-South Expressway (NSE), which cuts through the western part of Peninsular Malaysia.
