Desa Pandan is a neighbourhood town located in Kuala Lumpur on the borders of Ampang. With its close proximity to the heart of the city, Desa Pandan is a popular location that expatriates can call ‘home’. Located within a short driving distance to the city centre, Bangsar, Petaling Jaya, and Taman Tun Dr Ismail makes Desa Pandan a superbly central place to live in.

As one of the oldest urbanisations in Malaysia, Desa Pandan contains a healthy mix of homes, from low-cost apartments for the lower income earners to the high-end housing and high-rise areas for the higher income earners. The Desa Pandan neighbourhood is situated alongside the Embassy Row, making it a highly sought after alternative to staying in Ampang.

It is perfect for suburban living with luxury amenities easily reached within driving distance and affordable ones right by the doorstep. Other facilities within the area also include hypermarkets, schools, shopping malls, pharmacies, and fast food restaurants. There is even an abacus training centre located within the town.

Desa Pandan is a highly and easily accessible neighbourhood, with several main highways servicing the area. It is also well served by public transportation as many buses pass through the area, and there are LRT stations passing through the area as well, namely the Dato Keramat LRT station, Chan Sow Lin LRT station, and the Masjid Jamek LRT station.

Consumer Price Index

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.363% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 1.633% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.308% in the year 2014 while surging by 3.019% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 104.1 in 2012, 105.8 in 2013, 109.3 in 2014, 112.6 in 2015.
