Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Pudu is a town located along Pudu Road in Kuala Lumpur. It is host to Kuala Lumpur’s oldest bus station called Pudu Sentral (also known as Puduraya) and the now demolished Pudu Prison. Amongst several of the internationally renowned landmarks in this area is Bukit Bintang, whilst a short distance away are Pavilion KL and KLCC.
Generally known to be a constantly congested area, Pudu is also host to several upmarket residential areas such as the Swiss Garden Residences, Taragon Puteri Bintang and Casa Residency.
Due to its strategic location, the residential areas within Pudu are rather highly priced. However, one of its value factors is that public transportations are always within a short walk away.
Although the traffic conditions were reportedly eased once the Bandar Tasik Selatan Integrated Transport Terminal was opened in 2011, traffic congestions are still constantly occurring during peak hours.
With the endless construction going on within the city centre incidents are unavoidable, with the worst occurrence happening in the year 2014 when an underground tunnel which was under construction collapsed twice on the same day at the intersection between Jalan Pudu and Jalan Hang Tuah.
Formerly built on a Chinese burial ground, the Pudu Prison has since been demolished and it has been reported that the development is being dubbed as Bukit Bintang City Centre.

This is a representation of Kuala Lumpur Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the year of 2011 - 2015
Did you know?
A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of a market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. (Wikipedia)
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.
The above graph shows 1.363% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 1.633% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.308% in the year 2014 while surging by 3.019% in 2015.
While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 104.1 in 2012, 105.8 in 2013, 109.3 in 2014, 112.6 in 2015.
