Putra is located in the central business district of Kuala Lumpur, where Hotel Putra (formerly known as Hotel Kuala Lumpur) is just a 5-minute drive from the Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Bintang, and is another 5-minute walk from Istana Budaya and the National Art Gallery.

The properties in Putra are mostly condominiums, such as the Menara Putra, a freehold high rise apartment that was developed as a low-cost development many years ago for the lower income citizens.

Accessibility is always convenient when there are public transport services in the vicinity. The Putra Komuter KTM station (shared by both the Rawang-Seremban and the Sentul-Port Klang routes), Sultan Ismail LRT station, and Titiwangsa LRT station are all located within a very short distance.

There are also good bus and taxi services available and connectivity also comes in the form of roads and highways, such as Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Chow Kit, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kuching, and Jalan Pahang.
