Putra is located in the central business district of Kuala Lumpur, where Hotel Putra (formerly known as Hotel Kuala Lumpur) is just a 5-minute drive from the Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Bintang, and is another 5-minute walk from Istana Budaya and the National Art Gallery.

The properties in Putra are mostly condominiums, such as the Menara Putra, a freehold high rise apartment that was developed as a low-cost development many years ago for the lower income citizens.

The public amenities in Putra include an Indonesian school among the other schools that are located nearby, hospitals and medical centres, a memorial centre, hotels, and the Putra World Trade Centre.

The Sunway Putra Mall, which is part of an integrated development comprising Sunway Putra Tower (offices) and Sunway Putra Hotel and Serviced Apartments and will cater to the surrounding businesses and shoppers with its six-level shopping floors, and is due to be completed by 2015. It will overlook the international Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) and will soon become the mall where residents can enjoy superb access and experience an exciting place to shop.

Accessibility is always convenient when there are public transport services in the vicinity. The Putra Komuter KTM station (shared by both the Rawang-Seremban and the Sentul-Port Klang routes), Sultan Ismail LRT station, and Titiwangsa LRT station are all located within a very short distance.

There are also good bus and taxi services available and connectivity also comes in the form of roads and highways, such as Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Chow Kit, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kuching, and Jalan Pahang. The highways that lead residents in and out of Putra are the Mahameru Highway, DUKE Expressway, and the AKLEH highway, to name a few.
