Iskandar Puteri (Nusajaya) is a flagship zone of the Iskandar Malaysia development plan which aims to become an economic corridor based on the vision of ‘The World in One City’. Launched in 2007, the 550,000-acre sustainable city intends to become a metropolis of international-acclaim by 2025. Just 5 years after is launch, Iskandar Puteri is already well on track to realising its vision, receiving a FIABCI PRIX d’EXCELLENCE Award for the category of Best Master Plan.

Iskandar Puteri’s strategic location within the Iskandar region and close proximity to the neighbouring city of Singapore is one of the main driving forces of its potential, where it is poised to become one of the best international connecting hubs in Southeast Asia. Iskandar Puteri will be served by 2 international airports and 5 seaports, while convenient connectivity is enabled by the range of access ways, of which include the Second Link Expressway (15 to 20 minutes to Singapore down south and towards Senai Airport northwards) and the New Coastal Highway (15 minutes to JB city centre).

Iskandar Puteri intends to draw investors, visitors and businesses from around the world with its range of developments related to key industries and sectors, namely the Government sector, tourism and leisure, education, healthcare and wellness, business and industry, along with residential and commercial properties.

In line with that, Iskandar Puteri has seen the execution of various developments aimed at achieving that vision. Tourism and leisure is a key area in spurring economic growth, as such, Iskandar Puteri has seen the establishment of hotels, resorts, attractions and even sport facilities which will draw both local and international tourists to the area, with attractions like the LEGOLAND theme park, Puteri Harbour Marina, and the Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club.

The EduCity education hub is also the first of its kind in this part of the world, comprising international universities like the Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia, Netherlands Maritime Institute of Technology, as well as Khazanah Primary and Secondary Schools, making it a viable destination for education amongst foreign and Malaysian students, where R&D centres, accommodation and recreational and sporting facilities are also available.

Iskandar Puteri also intends to make Iskandar Malaysia a hub for quality yet appropriately priced healthcare, where the booming medical tourism is a potentially lucrative source of economic growth for the country. Iskandar Puteri takes the opportunity to bank in on this untapped sector, offering wellness centres and introducing the Afiat Healthpark, where the Columbia Asia Hospital will operate. The Gleneagles Medini is also set to open its doors in the Medini Lifestyle area.

Iskandar Puteri has also seen the completion of developments relevant to different industries, like the Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, a world-class facility for media production. There is also a green industrial park, known as SiLC, and Nusajaya Tech Hub along with Malaysia’s first biotechnology park, Bio-XCell.

Catering to the need for housing and accommodation in Iskandar Puteri, countless residential developments as well as integrated projects have been established, with a number more in the pipeline. From the luxurious landed homes of East Ledang and Horizon Hills, indulgent serviced residences like Somerset and the 1Medini condominium units, to the more affordable homes of Nusa Bayu and Rumah Iskandar Malaysia (RIM), to everything else in between met by the Nusa Idaman medium-to-high cost homes, Iskandar Puteri offers a choice of home for all.

Integrated and commercial developments like Medini, Medini Mall (retail), Medini Square (offices and SoHos), Anjung Neighbourhood Centre, and even the upcoming Gerbang Nusajaya automotive hub, also provides residents with all their daily and entertainment needs. Other strategic plans are also in line to make Nusajaya a haven of safe, eco-friendly and technologically advanced living, such as the Nusajaya Five-O auxiliary police deployment, the Nusajaya Green Plan, the Smart and Connected Nusajaya plan, and the Multi-telco Environment initiative for high-speed broadband access.
