SS2 of Petaling Jaya is an extremely prosperous area pulsating with life at all times of the day, from before the sun rises where crowds focus on the neighbourhood market, to the wee hours of the morning where the eateries bulge with night owls. It is one of the most established commercial hubs as well as the largest district in Petaling Jaya, with Damansara Jaya, Damansara Utama, SS17, and SS23 (Taman SEA) as its neighbours.

The commercial centre remains the focal point of SS2. Every conceivable type of business can be found in this area from marriage preparation shops to dessert parlours, surrounded by landed properties which their values increase without fail with the advancement of years. In recent times, many chic and independently owned cafes have sprouted in SS2, catering to both the older and younger generation. Other forms of development include a large number of banks, parks and playgrounds, a police station and a fire department, and schools located right in the heart of the commercial area.

The property environment in SS2 is flourishing with constant development, consisting mostly of residential terrace houses and condominiums. The Five Stones is a new luxury condominium, recently completed and caters to those within the high-income bracket. An upcoming commercial development to be reckoned with is The Hub, a 44-storey tower consisting mainly of office blocks, which is to be completed by 2018.

SS2 is generally surrounded by several large shopping malls and can be easily accessed via the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP), SPRINT Highway, and the North-Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE).

the place is easily accessible to major highways like
LDP, SPRINT, and NKVE. The place is also close to major shopping malls including One U, Tropicana mall, IKEA, Paradigm Mall, Atria and the Starling.
In terms of security, there are police patroling around the neighbourhood and the resident association in SS2 is very active.
Overall, I am happy with my place here and would recommend more young working adults (like yours truly) to stay around this area.

It's a convenient area, plenty of amenities but the roads are narrow which may cause traffic jam during rush hours. It's a matured area and good for families, very hard to see available properties there!

Mall, The Starling Shopping Mall), hospital (UM hospital, Columbia hospital), highway (LDP, federal highway, NKVE, SPRINT), office, education, university(UM, MAHSA) and famous nice food. It is very convenient and comfortable to stay in this area, without any thinking want to move out. Traffic jam during peak hours is main concern issue due to high population. Due to the resident area mostly not guard and gated, therefore security and safety is an issue. Luckily the police are quite frequent to patrol the living area and fast respond when we make a report. The commercial area always hard to find parking not matter day or night time, but this also show a good business opportunity to set up business in SS2 as the crowd never will be an issue. The resident in SS2 can easy stay, living, working, playing, shopping and hang out in SS2 without go out this area.
As people are comfortable to stay in this area, therefore the price of properties are growing up very fast and consistent. It's quite hard to find a landed property to buy in this area. And the only new developments and projects are only high-rises condo. This area definitely is a good area no matter for own stay or investment purpose.
