Icon City is a maiden commercial development on the mainland of Penang by Iconic Development Sdn Bhd, not to be confused with the mixed development project of Icon City by Mah Sing in Kuala Lumpur.

While designed to be a captivating commercial development, there are many who have complained that the launching price of this project is overboard especially when there are other more appealing developments on the Penang Island such as Arena Curve at Bayan Baru which costs the same and is in a better location. All of the units at Icon City, Bukit Mertajam were however sold out within months of its launch, as there are many who believe in the feasibility of this project.
