Taman Perwira is a mostly residential neighbourhood situated in Bukit Mertajam, on the mainland of Penang. Properties here include 1- and 2-storey freehold link houses and shop-offices. While the properties here appear to be rather aged, they are conveniently located near to various urban facilities.
For example, within the neighbourhood itself one can access a surau, a public national school, SMK Taman Perwira, as well as commercial lots occupied by restaurants, sundry shops and auto repair workshops positioned nearer to the main trunk road of Jalan Permatang Tinggi.
Along this road, one can find several bus stations frequented by Rapid Penang buses 801 and 802. The former travels between Penang Sentral, Butterworth and Nibong Tebal, while the latter goes between Bukit Mertajam and Nibong Tebal.
From Taman Perwira, the KTM Simpang Ampat station is about a 15-minute drive away, giving residents access to other parts of Penang and Western Peninsular Malaysia. Or, if they prefer to travel directly to their destinations by car, the link to the North-South Expressway is also about 15 minutes away.
Just across the main road, there are more amenities – SJK Permatang Tinggi, SJK (C) Permatang Tinggi, SJK (T) Permatang Tinggi, a police station and numerous other shops and eateries. While the nearest hospital – Hospital Bukit Mertajam – is quite a distance away (about 13km), Taman Perwira is just about 5km to two major chain hypermarkets and malls, AEON and Tesco.
Furthermore, the area is considerably close to many mainland Penang industrial areas, for example that of Bukit Minyak, Prai and Permatang Tinggi, and is a suitable place to stay for those working in these places.
