Taman Molek is a mixed development of commercial and residential properties located in Butterworth, Penang. The neighbourhood has been around for quite a number of years, with most of the homes retaining their original facade. However, there are several which have undergone extensive renovation. As such, the neighbourhood may appear messy.
There are terrace homes and semi-detached units within Taman Molek, all double-storey in height. The commercial phases of the neighbourhood also seem to have been established around the same time, with variants of 2-storey, 3-storey and 4-storey shop offices. A majority of the ground floor lots are taken up by automotive repairs, tyres, and accessories shops while there are a few other amenities like eateries and hair salons.
More amenities can found on Jalan Bagan Ajam, the main road on the peripheries of Taman Molek. Along the road, commercial shop lots house convenience stores, banks, pharmacies, launderettes, eateries, a post office and more.
The nearest school within proximity to Taman Molek is SK Bagan Jermal on the opposite side of the road. More choices will require a few minutes’ drive, such as SJK (C) Kwang Hwa Butterworth, SMJK Chung Ling Butterworth, SMK Bagan Jaya, SJK Mak Mandin, and SMK Kampong Kastam among others.
Jalan Bagan Ajam connects Taman Molek to the Butterworth town centre, just a little over 5 minutes away. Continuing down south, the road becomes Jalan Kampung Gajah until the Jalan Heng Choon Thian intersection, where it is then known as Jalan Bagan Luar before merging with the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR). With that, Taman Molek is about 20 minutes from the town of Seberang Perai, as well as access to the North-South Expressway (NSE) and the first Penang bridge.
