Established in 1991, Bandar Tasik Selatan is a township in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. Being such a young town, Bandar Tasik Selatan is still undergoing phases of development that will ultimately transform it into the towns and cities that currently surround it. Not many commercial residences are present at the moment, apart from the Tasik Heights Apartments.

The crime rate in Bandar Tasik Selatan is, however, a cause for concern. In 2012, news reports surfaced when cyber criminals who were involved in love scams and fraudulent online purchases caused unfortunate victims to lose what resulted to a loss of a total of RM16 million.

Petty crimes were also committed during that year with pickpockets targeting victims who took public transport to get around. Just this year in 2014, a resident in Bandar Tasik Selatan claimed that a fast food delivery man had robbed him off RM100 during a ‘fake’ delivery to his apartment. Authorities have advised residents to be vigilant at all times.

Issues with traffic congestion is inevitable as the Middle Ring Road 2 is the main travel route for most residents to travel to and fro from their respective areas. Another option for residents is the Bandar Tasik Selatan station, a rail interchange with the KTM Komuter, Sri Petaling Line, and the KLIA Transit services passing through.

The Bandar Tasik Selatan Integrated Transport Terminal is also located in the township as one of the major bus transport hubs in Kuala Lumpur. The terminal uses state-of-the-art technology to provide comfort and convenience for all South-bound bus passengers and users of the terminal. Easily accessible via road or rail, the terminal has over 60 specialty outlets for their passengers’ “shopping while travelling” needs, from boutiques and fashion outlets to food and beverage outlets.
