About Chaah

Johor

Chaah is a town and district subdivision located in Segamat, Johor. The main road in the town is Jalan Yong Peng. It forms part of the Federal Route 1, the trunk road running through western Peninsular Malaysia. Various neighbourhoods and villages flank this road, such as Taman Chaah Baru, Taman Sri Chaah, Taman Sentosa, Taman Industri Chaah and Kampung Jawa Baru. Residents only can choose from a few schools in the vicinity – SMK Chaah, SK Seri Bali, SMK Seri Bali and SK Desa Temu Jodoh. There is also a post office in the town, as well as multipurpose halls, petrol stations, religious institutions like mosques and temples, food stalls, restaurants, mini markets, temporary evening markets, a park and a Public Bank branch. The park, Darling Walk, is named after the maternal grandfather of Hollywood actor, Alan Cumming. Moving further outward from the trunk road, one can find hardware stores, warehouses and factories. Some of these facilities process the natural resources such as palm oil, rubber and timber, supplied by areas surrounding Chaah. For additional amenities like restaurants or public schools, residents of Chaah can visit the nearby town of Yong Peng, which is about 20 minutes or 25km away via Jalan Yong Peng. Yong Peng is also the connection point to the North-South Expressway (NSE) that links to other states and towns, including Melaka, Johor Bahru and Singapore. Travelling for about 35 minutes towards the north along the Federal Route 1, residents can get to the Segamat town centre, where they’ll have access to facilities like Hospital Segamat and Kolej Komuniti Segamat (Segamat Community College). Also, there is a Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UiTM) campus about an hour away from Chaah. All in all, residents in Chaah will have to make do with fewer and more basic amenities. Nevertheless, the town definitely offers a more peaceful lifestyle for those involved in the area’s industrial and agricultural sector, and to a smaller extent, the commercial and education sector.
