About Seri Kembangan

Properties for Sale in Seri Kembangan

Formerly known as ‘Serdang New Village’, Seri Kembangan is a town located within the borders of Selangor. The area is well-connected and provides affordable homes despite being just 20 minutes away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.

In the past, it was a jungle that was mostly inhabited by rubber tappers and tin miners. Seri Kembangan was established as Serdang New Village in 1950 when the British moved Malaysian Chinese villagers from Sungai Besi to a centralised location. Years later, gorgeous landed properties have replaced the original structures of the past that were mostly demolished for further development.

Investors are drawn to this area because the property boom in the city pushes the development circle further out. Hence the reason why middle to upper income groups are the target market for this area. First time home buyers would also appreciate the inexpensive houses in Seri Kembangan. However, the traffic in this area has become increasingly congested due to the rising number of residents.

Here, we have the Mines Shopping Mall that hosts a large collection of big brands, small local brands and also a variety of restaurants to choose from. It is also a popular site for large exhibitions and events. Visiting this mall during special seasons like Christmas would be a spectacle to behold because of the stunning decorations. Other landmarks in Seri Kembangan include the Palace of the Golden Horses hotel and the Selangor Turf Club. Moreover, if you’re an animal lover, there is Farm in the City, a famous petting zoo in Taman Equine that gives you a unique village experience. This place is a highly recommended weekend getaway for families who want to spend quality time with their kids.

Seri Kembangan is home to a number of international schools including Alice Smith School (Secondary Campus), Australian International School, Kingsgate International School, and Universal International School. A famous tertiary educational institution here is University Putra Malaysia.

Families who want to stay near the city centre but possess a lower budget for housing would find this area to be the sweet spot for their needs.
