It’s one of the best foodie months ever! Malaysian festivities are full of delicious and drool-worthy foods and cookies to eat, but Ramadhan is probably the most mouthwatering one with plenty of choices for everyone. You definitely shouldn’t miss out on these top 13 best Ramadhan bazaars in the Klang Valley to visit and indulge in mouthfuls of goodness!

(Note: The Ramadhan bazaars open as early as 4pm and close by 7pm or so)

1. Section 13, Shah Alam (car park of Stadium Shah Alam)

(Source: Vkeong.com)

One of the biggest Ramadhan Bazaars in the Klang Valley, you can expect throngs of people when you visit this bazaar on the weekdays (apparently it’s slightly quieter on weekends).

Nearest public transport: Batu Tiga KTM station, then Grab/taxi.

2. Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad, TTDI

(Source: Backpackingmalaysia.com)

Usually at the site of its Sunday pasar malam, TTDI’s Ramadhan Bazaar has every type of food available and in a myriad of flavours that’ll tickle your tastebuds. Notable famous food choices here include murtabak maggi (oh yes!) and putu piring.

Nearest public transport: Kelana Jaya LRT and then hitch a ride to the bazaar!

3. Section 14, Petaling Jaya (near the Federal Academy of Ballet)

When in Malaysia, do as the Malaysians do. And that means joining the long queue for some smashingly fantastic popiah. It’s so famous it’s even been on The Star national newspaper. The queue can stretch forever and sell out by the time it’s your turn, so first come first serve!

Nearest public transport: Asia Jaya LRT station is the nearest but not an ideal walking distance, so we recommend you to get a ride.

4. Jalan Telawi 1, Bangsar (right beside Saidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq mosque)

Not depicted in the picture, but Bangsar’s Ramadhan bazaar is known for its legendary putu piring that has made its eaters sing choirs of angels and reflect on life. Maybe we’re exaggerating, maybe it’s just that good? You never know until you try it for yourself!

5. Jalan Datuk Sulaiman, Kampung Sungai Penchala

(Source: Vkeong.com)

Winner winner chicken dinner! If you play PUBG you’d probably understand, but for those who don’t, a winning chicken dinner is what you can expect at Kampung Sungai Penchala’s Ramadhan bazaar! It’s apparently a chicken paradise - ayam percik, ayam panggang, ayam golek, black pepper-roasted chicken a-la Sarawak style, grilled chicken wings, chicken rice, and more chickens!

6. SS6/1, Kelana Jaya (nearby Kompleks Tabung Haji Kelana Jaya)

(Source: Makan2jalan2.blogspot.my)

Our favourite part about Ramadhan bazaars is of course, looking at all the food, mentally calculating how much dinner is tonight, and seeing all the friendly, smiling faces! We’re sorry we can’t recommend you what to eat at Kelana Jaya’s bazaar, but we can only tell you this: EAT EVERYTHING! There’s over 200 stalls and a month of buka puasa days, so go figure! And when all else fails, call your buddies over for a ‘jalan-jalan cari makan’ to eat more than ever before.

7. Wangsa Maju (along Aeon Wangsa Maju)

(Source: Timeout)

Another hotspot that students will take pleasure in buying their dinner meals at, Wangsa Maju may be known as the other end of the earth to some, but don’t let that fool you into thinking there’s no good food available. The Roti John Labi Cheesy BBQ (what a long name!) is one of the crowd standouts & a favourite among the locals.

8. Taman Melawati (at the ‘town center’ of Taman Melawati)

(Source: mStar.com.my)

Don’t be surprised when you look up to see storks on the lamp posts - they’re friends from the nearby National Zoo! Taman Melawati can be sometimes confused with Taman Malawati, but just remember this: tauhu bakar. Yup, this is what Taman Melawati’s Ramadhan bazaar is famous for! While it’s important to feed your rumbling tummies, be considerate and park your vehicles in proper parking spaces.

Nearest public transport: Wangsa Maju LRT station.

9. SS13, Subang Jaya (outside 3K Sports Complex)

(Source: The Star Online)

Come and get your gaya Raya on with the #budaksubangjayaadagaya kids! SS13 is just a few hundred metres away from hotspots like SS15 and Bandar Sunway, so why not spare a visit to this Ramadhan bazaar? Notable eats: Ayam goreng kunyit. If you’re looking for a place to test your ayam-connoisseur skills, this is just the place.

Nearest public transport: SS15/Subang Jaya LRT stations, and Sunway BRT line.

10. Masjid India (at Lorong Masjid India 4)

(Source: Malay Mail)

In brightest day, in blackest night, no food shall escape my sight! Did you manage to catch that reference? Well, no matter the time, Malaysians are always up for a foodie trip! Right smack in the center of KL is the bright and super meriah Masjid India Ramadhan bazaar. Known for their lip-smackingly, heaven-inducing burgers, don’t be surprised to find yourself buying 2 or more to satiate your appetite!

Nearest public transport: The Masjid Jamek LRT station is around 10 minutes away from Masjid India on foot, so this is a good time to go on a short stroll of KL before stuffing your bellies.

11. Bandar Tun Razak (Lorong Jujur 1)

(Source: Lowyat.net)

They say that you should stay away from sugary drinks and processed ones but… sometimes you just can’t tahan lah! A certain stall in Bandar Tun Razak’s Ramadhan bazaar has (maybe) the best air tebu in town, but we won’t tell you which one as everybody has different preferences, right? P/S: Buy a cup from each stall and share with your friends. Slurp it while walking/eating as it’ll really cool you during the hot weather and hot food.

12. Metro Prima Kepong, Kepong Baru (directly across Aeon Big)

(Source: Hungry Go Where)

Is it called nasi berlauk, nasi Melayu, nasi kandar, nasi banjir, or… what? Regardless of what it’s called, a visit to Metro Prima Kepong’s Ramadhan bazaar is a trip to definitely eat your heart out with quality & quantity! You can expect stalls selling nasi campur like this and more, so don’t forget to bungkus some back for your family members!

13. Taman Sri Andalas, Klang (near Aeon Bukit Tinggi)

(Source: Milosuam.net)

When you think Klang, you probably think bak kut teh or crazy Klang drivers. Well, here’s another word you can associate with Klang: good Malay food! Come down to Klang for a fun foodie adventure and end your day with the Ramadhan bazaar at Taman Sri Andalas. We hear there’s cheesy popiah going at 6 pieces for RM3! If you can’t find us at dinner time, you know where to look.

Conclusion

If you think it’s a waste of time to visit Ramadhan bazaars this year because they serve the same food every year, you’re mistaken! You can expect recent food trends to make their appearance here and infused with our local favourites. Remember the salted egg yolk craze or the rainbow grilled-cheese sandwiches? Perhaps you’ll stumble upon these and more new ones to go viral on social media.

What’s your favorite Ramadhan food/kuih? If we missed out on any Ramadhan bazaars that you think we should cover, send us a photo, location, and what’s good to eat there!
