EcoWorld Malaysia is one of the many Malaysian developers that have benefited in property sales boost thanks to the HOC scheme.

Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld Malaysia) saw a strong rebound in sales following the launch of the National Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) in March this year.

President and chief executive officer Dato’ Chang Khim Wah said EcoWorld Malaysia is delighted to note that sales activities have picked up in a sustained manner since March 2019.

“Thanks to the HOC, it is truly a buyer’s market today. However, despite the extremely competitive landscape, interest in all our developments remain strong,” he said.

He said purchasers are continued to be drawn to the company’s steadfast commitment to value creation and customer service as they seek out properties that not only meet their current lifestyle needs but also have the potential to appreciate in value as the projects mature.

“Based on our engagement with customers on the ground, we are grateful that our hard work to create thoughtful and distinctive developments have not gone unnoticed,” Chang said.

He also noted that whilst the sectoral outlook in Malaysia continues to be challenging, there are green shoots emerging as a good number of saleable unsold units would have been cleared from the system as a result of the HOC.

“This will enable the market to recalibrate to its natural level going forward, supported by the country’s relatively young demographic and continuing new household formation,” he said.

He noted that the company’s Life@EcoWorld concepts, which was introduced beginning this year to mark the next stage of our evolution as a developer is really gaining traction.

“Through this initiative, we aim to marry the establishment of digitally enabled communities using 4th IR (industrial revolution) solutions together with Integrated Wellness & Care components to look after our customers at every stage of their lives,” Chang said.

EcoWorld Malaysia and Eco World International Bhd (EcoWorld International) announced the results of their first half of FY2019 last week.

EcoWorld Malaysia’s recorded a total sales of RM1.026 billion in the first seven months of FY2019, a substantial improvement of close to RM800 million over 3 months, aided by the Group’s attractive Help2Own and Stay2Own solutions under its own HOPE Campaign.

The company’s Profit After Tax increased by 35% from RM52.9 million in the previous year to RM71.5 million for the 6 months ended 30 April 2019.
