The eye-catchy and towering circular bookshelf at the entrance

The 8th BookXcess store in Malaysia has opened at the BookXcess Sunsuria Forum. The tunnel concept bookstore features over 500,000 books and spans 16,000 sf. Located at SB-1, Sunsuria Forum @ 7th Avenue, Setia Alam, bookworms will be able to get the books at 50% to 80% off the recommended retail price. The bookstore is open from 10am to 10pm, daily.

Sunsuria hopes to create a reading culture through their ‘Dream Realm’ of books. Visitors will not only get to be awed by the books, but also by the towering circular bookshelf that greets them upon entrance to BookXcess. And as they proceed through the tunnel, they will experience a wide variety of literature from fiction to non-fiction and books that cater to all ages and walks of life.

Also featured is a working station and reading space for customers to browse and read comfortably, whilst enjoying a great brew of coffee at the store’s very own in-store cafe. The children section of the store will host a mini-maze and an extensive collection of children’s books. And exclusive only to BookXcess, parents will have access to the Magical Books incorporated with Augmented Reality (AR) within the store.

Immersing children in the delightful world of read, learn, and play, Magical Books will bring stories to life with its cutting edge technology. Children will get to choose between 15 popular titles, including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and The Night Before Christmas.

Said Dipak Madhavan, chief marketing officer of BookXcess, “We want to continue to spread the love of reading to the people of Malaysia with the opening of our eighth bookstore in Malaysia and third new bookstore this year alone. We are always looking out for new methods to increase the reading habit of Malaysians and creating new concepts like this tunnel bookstore is part of this effort.

“The unique structure and concept will attract readers and non-readers alike to the bookstore and our prices will hopefully convert them to pick up a book or two. Books and knowledge are a huge factor to change the world. We are proud to have the support of Sunsuria Berhad, who is fittingly one of the leaders of the property developers to bring our bookstore as an anchor tenant to Sunsuria Forum @ 7th Avenue.

“This is sure to become a beloved spot to visit and we hope that we can encourage the surrounding community to be excited with our presence and spend quality time with their friends and family picking their favourite books.”

Mr. Wong Chiew Meng, senior project director of Sunsuria Berhad, further went on to add that, “We believe Sunsuria Forum will be the next ‘talk of town’ with child enrichment and family-oriented elements embedded into the concept of Sunsuria Forum. Apart from the choices of F&B and amenities, we believe that BookXcess will be beneficial to the surrounding communities especially young families who see the importance of cultivating the joy of reading in their daily lives. Hosting BookXcess in Sunsuria Forum is an achievement towards developing an integrated development comprising of a lifestyle mall, SOHO Suites, Corporate Office & Serviced Apartment that is underway.”

BookXcess Sunsuria Forum will practice their own form of CSR. Their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, Red Readerhood, will match the donation of every customer who donates books. Conceptualised in 2011, Red Readerhood works with local organisations to donate books to those in need, as they have a strong belief that everyone should have access to books and leanings regardless of their status.

BookXcess stores have dedicated Red Reader sections where customers can select the books they wish to donate. The beneficiaries of these books are underprivileged children from Cahaya Kasih Bestari and Rumah Amal Bistari, in hopes that knowledge from the books will inspire them to chase their dreams.

Visitors will get to enjoy an additional 20% off the already discounted books from 31 October – 3 November 2019. Additionally, customers who spend over RM50, RM100 and RM150, will be entitled to selected promotions such as free BookXcess membership, free coffee or tea at Café Wolf along with RM10 off or RM20 off their next purchase. Impressive concept for a bookstore. Seen a photo of a tunnel bookstore recently in local newspaper but can't figure out where it is. Now at least I know.
