Regional President of Country Garden, Jason Fu, resigned on 15th January after serving for 4 years and 5 months, and was replaced on 16th January by Su Bai Yuan.

Fu helmed the operations in Malaysia and Singapore during his reign and was involved in the mega-development of Forest City in Johor, as well as the 80 acres Lake City @ KL North development. His other projects include Country Garden Diamond City in Semenyih, Country Garden Central Park in Tampoi, and Country Garden Danga Bay.

Fu’s resignation came as a surprise to many, and he did not leave an explanation for his departure.

It was however suspected that it was an internal restructuring program that may have led to his leaving the company, which in the same program was a substantial number of job reductions and the merging of four companies into one which undertook different property projects in Malaysia.

It was nevertheless later clarified that Fu resigned in order to focus on his personal pursuits.

Su, the new CEO of Country Garden’s Forest City, was announced to have taken over the position immediately the next day. Su is also listed as the Executive Director of Hong Kong-listed Country Garden Holdings Co Ltd.

In response to a query from EdgeProp.my, Country Garden stated that, “In order to cultivate the Malaysian market and have a unified interface within all sectors, Country Garden’s business operations in Malaysia and the Forest City development project have now been integrated as ‘Malaysia-Singapore Region’.”

It was also noted within the statement that the Malaysia-Singapore region will continue to adapt their operations in line with the company’s long term vision.

The statement ended with Country Garden stating that, “We wish to express our gratitude to Mr. Fu for his contribution in the past four and a half years leading the operations in Malaysia and Singapore and we wish him well. We look forward to maintaining our friendship with him which has been fostered through the years.”
