Singing has many health benefits according to various medical publications. It can strengthen the immune system, it’s a form of exercise and a natural antidepressant. Apart from helping you sleep, it helps people relax and can enlarge your circle of friends

One may argue that you can just sing while in the shower or in your car. However, such places are not really ideal for singing, and belting it out by your lonesome won’t help you make new friends.

For this reason, you should try visiting KTVs with your friends and families! These karaoke spots are more suited to singing thanks to their comfortable seats and state-of-the-art sound systems. Their sound-proofed walls will also let you push the boundaries of your vocal cords without causing creating public disturbance.

Better yet, karaoke spots serve food and drinks. These will provide you with energy for your musical performance, while alcoholic beverages help you loosen up to the point that you can sing the most hilarious songs like “The Coconut Song” and “Baby Shark” to liven up the atmosphere.

So without further ado, here are some of the best karaoke places in Sri Petaling. Due to the limited number of decent KTVs in the township, the last two are found outside of the town, but are just a short drive from there.

I. Loud Speaker Family Karaoke

Want to enjoy a karaoke session with your friends and family without burning a hole in your pocket? Then head over to this wallet-friendly establishment along Jalan Radin Tengah where you can sing to your heart’s content for as low as RM7 per individual, making it one of the most affordable KTV places in Kuala Lumpur.

Moreover, they provide free-flow drinks, a rarity among karaoke joints in Malaysia. Apart from being spacious, their KTV rooms are well illuminated, nicely furnished and has a warm ambience. Customers can also control the lights and add some laser light effects to set the mood for different song choices, which are continuously updated.

Instead of cumbersome remote controls, you just have to swipe and tap on an iPad to select your song. Each room is also provided with 3 to 4 microphones, or 5 in the bigger rooms, so there’s enough mics if you want to sing in a group.

II. Superstar Family KTV

This KTV bar along Jalan Radin Tengah is famous for its beautifully designed rooms decorated with cute Japanese cartoon characters like Doraemon, Hello Kitty, and Luffy from ‘One Piece’. They are also praised for their nice service and excellent sound system, including good-working microphones. They have a wide variety of song choices from different parts of the world and across different languages, and many of them are new hits.

Those who want to take a break from singing can rest at their common lounge, and you can even play Xbox video games, making this KTV joint a top choice for gamers. Besides providing drinking water, the food they serve is really yummy as it’s cooked by the adjacent Japanese restaurant. One highly recommended food is their freshly baked pizzas.

However, the KTV room for small groups is on the small side. In addition, smoking is permitted within the premises, so it may be a turn off for non-smokers. The management has also been called out to pay attention to the cleanliness, as their comfort rooms are accumulating grime.

III. MusicWorld Family Karaoke

This KTV joint in Jalan Radin Bagus is lauded for its clean and cosy facilities that have been improved further following a make-over. Apart from the nice environment, they have a good sound system and diverse song choices. Most of the latest English hits are included in their song list. Their rates are also reasonable. Clients like that the price is fixed per room, so you can sing until you’re satisfied without paying the price for two persons. Apart from that, their food and drinks are satisfactory.

The only complaints that this joint has garnered are the batteries of the mics, which many have requested that the management ensure that the batteries are fully charged before the start of a session. Another oft-requested suggestion is to improve the soundproofing of their rooms, as patrons are still able to hear loud singing from neighbouring rooms.

IV. Babylon Pub & KTV

Although technically not in Sri Petaling, this KTV spot in Kuchai Business Park is just a 7-minute drive (2.9km) from the township via Jalan 2/149 and Jalan Senang Ria. This is the go-to place for large groups who want to enjoy karaoke while sipping cool and affordably priced alcoholic drinks. Not only are their chic and elegant KTV rooms equipped with leather sofas and coaches, they also feature a state-of-the-art sound system.

It’s also a fun and exciting place. Those who want to slip out of the karaoke rooms can head to the pub.

V. Neway Karaoke Box

This KTV spot in Puchong is also not within Sri Petaling, but is merely a 12-minute drive (10km) from the township via Lebuhraya Shah Alam/E5. This is one of the top family-friendly karaoke spots close to Sri Petaling as the place serves a superb buffet featuring different cuisines, including Chinese, Japanese, and Western dishes. They even offer fresh oyster omelette and tasty roasted Peking Duck.

Moreover, clients can bring the buffet food in their karaoke room. But due to the immense popularity of this KTV joint, it’s advisable to book a karaoke room in advance as the place is often full. Also, please note that the buffet is only open until 9.30pm.

Another good thing is their reasonable price, and the ambience of the place is comparable to the upscale CEO Karaoke Box in Jalan Bukit Bintang. The karaoke rooms are nicely furnished, and most come with a private toilet. Besides the large selection of songs in different languages, their high-tech sound system is user friendly. You just need to download the “Neway App” to choose the songs you want to play.

However, some of the karaoke rooms desperately need a make-over as the business has been operating for a long time. Nevertheless, the staff are doing an exemplary job at maintaining the place.
