Johor Land Berhad (JLand), the property development arm and a subsidiary of Johor Corporation (JCorp), has completed the development of 488 housing units under the Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor (RIBJ) project in Bandar Dato’ Onn, Johor Bahru. The realisation of home ownership for fellow Johoreans culminated today in the delivery of vacant possession to purchasers, enabling them to receive the keys to their dream homes.

The ceremony was solemnised by His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, the Crown Prince of Johor, officially representing His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan and Sovereign Ruler of Johor. Also present to witness the ceremony was YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar Johor and YB Dato’ Haji Azmi bin Rohani, State Secretary of Johor.

In collaboration with the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation or Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim Johor (YSIJ) and the State Government, JCorp through its subsidiary, JLand responded to YSIJ’s mandate to jointly plan and develop two RIBJ developments in Johor Bahru, which are in Bandar Dato’ Onn and Bandar Baru Majidee. Collectively across both projects thus far, JLand has completed 808 units of affordable homes across close to 59 acres under the RIBJ scheme.

“JCorp is committed to contributing towards housing development initiatives of YSIJ and the State Government by building quality, affordable homes and improving home ownership for the citizens of Johor, marked by the development of RIBJ project carried out by JLand,” said YBhg Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, President and Chief Executive of Johor Corporation, who is Chairman of JLand and also sits on the Board of Trustees of the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation.

He added, “With strategic implementation from YSIJ, we have been able to support the provision of affordable housing for two prestigious and unique RIBJ projects in Bandar Dato’ Onn and Bandar Baru Majidee, thereby enhancing the standard of living and well-being of the people in the state of Johor. As part of our mandate to drive the growth of the State’s economy, we look forward to continuing our close collaboration with YSIJ and the State Government to deliver many more much-needed homes across Johor.”

YBhg Datuk Sr Akmal Ahmad, Group Managing Director of JLand said, “In line with JLand’s mission of “Building Sustainable Communities with Passion”, we are delighted to be handing over the much-awaited RIBJ that are high-quality, functional, aesthetically designed, comfortable and well-connected within the capital of the Johor state.

He added, “As JLand celebrates 50 years of impact, it is a privilege to transform these parcels of land within the vicinity of Johor Bahru to become prominent residential features that will not only create and sustain local economies, but also improve the quality of life of individuals and families to create healthy, thriving and sustainable communities.”

Both RIBJ developments in Bandar Dato’ Onn and Bandar Baru Majidee are located within an enabling environment with adequate infrastructure, amenities and facilities to allow residents to build their lives and livelihood. As part of providing good quality housing for a range of household needs, all housing units in RIBJ Bandar Dato’ Onn and Bandar Baru Majidee are furnished with appliances such as cooking hobs, air conditioning, television, refrigerator, washing machine and rice cooker.

Set in strategic 51.92-acre mature estate grounds of the Bandar Dato’ Onn community, RIBJ at Bandar Dato’ Onn comprises four types of landed houses with built-up areas ranging from 1181 sq ft to 1262 sq ft, and priced between RM85,000 to RM100,000 a unit. On the other hand, RIBJ at Bandar Baru Majidee was built on 6.8 acres of land. Construction of 320 units of three-bedroom apartments was completed in end 2021, which comprises two 12-storey blocks with each block housing 160 apartment units.

The RIBJ initiative is an affordable housing scheme launched in 2017 by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, who envisions providing the citizens of Johor an opportunity to own a property they can call home. Under the administration of the YSIJ, the RIBJ serves to assist Johoreans, particularly those within the lower-income bracket, to own a strategically located home amidst comfortable facilities and amenities at affordable prices.
