Megah Rise mall officially opened its doors to the Taman Megah community to gather, reconnect and bond over food, retail therapy and sports following the successful completion of the Megah Rise mixed development. The project, completed in July 2022, includes a 39-storey premium condominium - Megah Rise Residensi.

Envisioned and developed by PPB Properties, the property division of PPB Group Berhad, this new mall with approximately 142,000 sq. ft. net lettable area will soon offer a splash of modern, contemporary landscape to complement the otherwise matured neighbourhood of Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya.

Where the Old and New Thrive as One

The mall exudes a nostalgic feel as traditional architecture meets the new, with classic red bricks and black iron steel enveloping the exterior of the mall, giving it an industrial yet retro look. On the inside, high ceilings, large glass panels and skylights fill the space where natural sunlight can be seen seeping through to create a warm and welcoming ambience in the mall.

“This development is a significant milestone for us at PPB Properties as our first mixed development in Petaling Jaya. The unveiling of the mall is a big milestone as we celebrate our 40th anniversary this year. We’re delighted to be able to celebrate yet another historic moment in our enduring legacy of success,” said Low Eng Hooi, Chief Executive Officer of PPB Properties, during the opening ceremony held this morning.

The mall's opening was officiated by Low with a ribbon-cutting ceremony together with PPB Group Berhad managing director Lim Soon Huat. This was followed by an auspicious lion dance performance to fill the mall with an abundance of good fortune and prosperity.

Low further added that Megah Rise was envisioned to be more than just a neighbourhood mall, as PPB Properties aspired to create a placemaking space that will become the new community hub for the residents of Taman Megah.

“This development will also add value to the community by elevating and complementing existing businesses and public amenities in the neighbourhood,” he said.

PPB Properties also strives to bring convenience to the Taman Megah community with unique tenants, by providing offerings that were not available in the area before, all under one roof.

A Unique Blend of Retail and Activities for All

Megah Rise mall features four levels of retail space complete with an approximately 115-meter-long #MegahWalk - a colourful batik-inspired painted walkway that is pet friendly with alfresco dining areas dotted along the path. This walkway has been envisaged to become a platform for buskers, artisanal markets, events, exhibitions and a community gathering space over the weekends and holidays.

The mall will also be one of the first retail malls in Selangor to house a fully air-conditioned multi-purpose sports hall measuring approximately 13,584 sq. ft. that is fitted with six badminton courts operated by the known and trusted Michael’s Badminton Academy. This multi-purpose hall can be transformed into various courts to cater to other sporting activities.

Living up to its tagline ‘The Community Placemaker’, Megah Rise was conceptualised, designed and built with the community in mind. Staying true to Malaysians’ undeniable love of food, Megah Rise offers a unique retail experience with about 40% of its nett lettable area dedicated specially to food and beverage outlets, including a host of wine and dine establishments. The mall also houses a premium grocer and other retail, leisure and education, fitness, and wellness offerings.

To date, close to 90% of the mall’s lettable space has been taken up and about 70% of the tenants will be opened for business by the first quarter of 2023. Among key anchor tenants that opened alongside the launch of the mall is the Megah Rise Badminton Club by Michael’s Badminton Academy, Village Grocer in the basement (opening December 27), Mr DIY, Nest 13 – Petaling Jaya’s largest rooftop restaurant and bar, Kheng Wah Char Chan Teng offering Hong Kong inspired kopitiam delights, Naj&Belle, Cincin and Staple Dough.

Year-round Activities and Happenings Abound

Aside from retail and the huge variety of food, the mall also offers a line-up of activities for visitors of all ages across the calendar year. This December, explore the Christmas bazaar and weekend bazaars held every alternate weekend from 4pm to 11pm along #MegahWalk. There will also be contests, giveaways, games and workshops. Mall visitors can stand a chance to win up to RM30,000 worth of prizes in lieu of the mall’s opening Spend and Win contest.
