The extension of the Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT line has not only made daily commute to work easier for most of us living in the Klang Valley, but has also improved accessibility to a myriad of interesting places in and around the Klang Valley. Now, weekends can be a whole lot more fun just by hopping onto the LRT. Here is a list of 10 must-visit places that is now easier to get to by LRT.



1. Farm in the City, Seri Kembangan (via Puchong Perdana LRT)

This petting zoo in the city is perfect for a fun family day out. Say goodbye to traffic jams on the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) and just take the LRT to the Puchong Perdana LRT station and a 15-minute cab ride. Here, you and your kids can feed birds, deer, goats, koi fish and meet other furry friends such as hamsters and rabbits too! Other than that, don’t miss the performances by the white cockatoo and parrots.



2. Sky Park at One City (via USJ 21 station)

For those who enjoy the thrill of heights or just want to face their fear, Sky Park at One City is the place you need to go to. Situated on the 10th floor, Sky Park at One City features a glass floor where visitors can stand on (if they dare). It is also great for shutter bugs and nature lovers as there is an open-air garden and numerous eateries, where you can enjoy a meal along with incredible views of Subang Jaya. Sky Park is just a short walk away or a five-minute taxi ride from the USJ 21 LRT station.



3. Kopicat Café in SS15 (via SS15 station)

Home to quirky cafes and numerous Pokestops, SS15 is the place to go to for that Instagram-worthy cup of coffee and delectable delights. But there is one cafe which is the secret gem of SS15. Letting the cat out of the bag, literally, that cafe is Kopicat Café where you can have a cuppa with, you guessed it, furry feline friends! Just hop off the LRT at the SS15 station and take a short walk to the cafe where you’ll be greeted by adorable cats as your host. The cafe is open from 11am to midnight.



4. Tapak Urban Street Dining (via KLCC station)

Great news! Subang Jaya and Shah Alam residents can now take the LRT directly to KLCC. The twin towers and the Suria KLCC shopping complex is just six minutes away from the KLCC station on foot. After a day of shopping and exploring, head on to Tapak, where the food truck frenzy has hit the streets of KL with delicious Malaysian comfort food and even other international cuisines. Tapak is open daily from 6pm onwards to curb your hunger, where you can enjoy a burger and milkshake, under the stars and city lights of KL!



5. Sunway Lagoon (via Sunway Lagoon BRT station)

When you think of water slides and theme parks, Sunway Lagoon, is the number one destination that comes to mind with over 80 attractions. Thinking about having a fun day out in the sun? Now you will no longer need to waste precious weekends facing the hassle of going through traffic and finding a parking spot to get there. Just take the LRT to the USJ 7 interchange station and switch to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to the Sunway Lagoon station. Another way which brings you to the doorsteps of Sunway Lagoon is by taking the KTM to the Setia Jaya interchange station and switching to the BRT.



6. Kelana Jaya Municipal Pool (via Glenmarie LRT station)

In the mood for a swim? Take a 10-minute walk from Glenmarie LRT station to Selangor’s largest swimming pool complex. Opened daily from 9am to 12pm, 2pm to 5pm and 6pm to 9pm, the complex is equipped with two 50m outdoor pools, lockers and shower facilities.



7. Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve (via Bandar Puteri station)

If a good hike, picturesque views and beautiful waterfalls is your cup of tea, you no longer have to go far! The forest reserve is home to a myriad of flora and fauna with several trails which even novice hikers can be able to conquer. Finding parking in the area can be difficult. Hence, a better way to get there is by taking the LRT to the Bandar Puteri LRT station or Taman Perindustrian Puchong LRT station and just hail a taxi. The forest reserve is about 8 minutes away from either LRT stations.



8. Mydin Wholesale Hypermarket, Giant Hypermarket, Summit USJ and Da:Men Shopping Mall (via USJ 7 LRT station or South Quay BRT station)

From grocery to food and even entertainment, the USJ 7 LRT or South Quay BRT station is within walking distance to several malls and hypermarkets. Da:Men mall offers a myriad of eateries to USJ residents, such as Weiner Hot Dogs from Singapore to Nam Heong Ipoh. Hypermarkets, Mydin and Giant are also nearby to solve all your grocery needs. The recently refurbished Summit USJ mall also has a bowling alley and cinema now, as well as shops for some retail therapy.



9. Shah Alam Extreme Park (via Putra Heights LRT station)

Into extreme sports? Head on to the Shah Alam Extreme Park, a complex where there are facilities for sports such as paintball, climbing and bouldering, and a BMX race course. There is also a concrete bowl equipped with street elements where rollerblade and skateboard enthusiasts can show off their tricks. The complex is 10 minutes by taxi from the Putra Heights LRT station.



10. Empire Shopping Gallery, Empire Hotel and Subang Parade (via Subang Jaya LRT station)

Within 500m walking distance from the Subang Jaya LRT station are two shopping centres – Empire Shopping Gallery and Subang Parade. If you’re looking for the best deals in gadgets or a cinema to catch the latest blockbuster film, Subang Parade is the place to be. Meanwhile, Empire Shopping Gallery offers more upmarket shopping options and fancy dining.
