If your home has 99 problems, make sure hygiene is not one of them. Bacteria and dust mites are the bane of your existence, and the best way to keep them out is to maintain a clean and tidy home throughout the week.

While you’re at it, don’t neglect to clean your fan blades, ceiling, window blinds and other places that you might often overlook. Our talented designer created these illustrations below to show you how you can start cleaning with ease!

1. Sweep the ceiling with a broom

The ceiling is extremely susceptible to spiderwebs and thick strings of dust. If you don’t want to get up on a ladder every week to clean it, you don’t have to. Just slip a cloth over the bristles of your broom and secure it with a thick rubber band, and now you can start sweeping all that dirt away.

2. Clean your ceiling fan with a pillowcase

Can’t remember the last time you wiped the blades of your ceiling fan? Then it’s time! Drape an old pillowcase over the blades and swipe it through, so the dust falls conveniently into the pillowcase.

3. Get the grease off your dishes with baking soda

Yeah, we’re not fans of doing the dishes either. But someone’s gotta do them, right? Baking soda helps to break down the greasy or crusted food clumps on the plates while removing bad smells! It’s totally amazing. You should try it.

4. Tackle greasy stoves with vegetable oil

Whether you were frying a fish or sauteeing mushrooms, oil splatters can’t exactly be avoided. In the case of a greasy stove, it’s best to combat oil with oil. Dab some vegetable oil onto a paper towel and wipe or scrub the surface of your oily stove for a nice, clean shine. You can also try wiping it down with vinegar or baking soda.

5. Clean your keyboard with cotton buds

When was the last time you actually cleaned your computer or laptop keyboard? Drive the tips of cotton buds through the gaps between the keys to eradicate all the dirt that’s been accumulating there for ages.

6. Eradicate juice stains from carpet with shaving cream

Spilled juice on the carpet? Good news – shaving cream is here to save the day. First, spray some shaving cream onto the carpet stain and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then use a scrub and rub gently to avoid damaging the fabric. It’s important to work the cream from the outer edge of the stain towards the middle, so you won’t risk spreading the stain. Apply water and vinegar to a cloth, and ensuring that it stays damp, blot the stain dry. On another note, you could also vacuum the shaving cream away, depending on the type of vacuum you own.

If you’d rather not take the risk with an expensive carpet, hire our professional carpet cleaners!

7. Remove coffee or tea stains with *gasp* beer!

Yes, you read that right. So the next time you spill coffee or tea on your favourite carpet, dab all the liquid out before pouring some room-temperature beer to the stain. Then use a cloth to blot the spot repeatedly until the stain is lifted. Once that’s settled, apply warm water to flush out any residues.

We understand that cleaning can be time-consuming, so if you need an extra hand at home, contact our professional Kaodim cleaners at affordable rates! A clean home isn’t unattainable – it’s all about making it happen.
