SS2 of Petaling Jaya is an extremely prosperous area pulsating with life at all times of the day, from before the sun rises where crowds focus on the neighbourhood market, to the wee hours of the morning where the eateries bulge with night owls. It is one of the most established commercial hubs as well as the largest district in Petaling Jaya, with Damansara Jaya, Damansara Utama, SS17, and SS23 (Taman SEA) as its neighbours. The commercial centre remains the focal point of SS2. Every conceivable type of business can be found in this area from marriage preparation shops to dessert parlours, surrounded by landed properties which their values increase without fail with the advancement of years. In recent times, many chic and independently owned cafes have sprouted in SS2, catering to both the older and younger generation. Other forms of development include a large number of banks, parks and playgrounds, a police station and a fire department, and schools located right in the heart of the commercial area. The property environment in SS2 is flourishing with constant development, consisting mostly of residential terrace houses and condominiums. The Five Stones is a new luxury condominium, recently completed and caters to those within the high-income bracket. An upcoming commercial development to be reckoned with is The Hub, a 44-storey tower consisting mainly of office blocks, which is to be completed by 2018. SS2 is generally surrounded by several large shopping malls and can be easily accessed via the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP), SPRINT Highway, and the North-Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE).
