It is said that being outdoors makes you healthier and happier. If you’re a person who’s into a balanced lifestyle or looking for a new park for a change of scenery, visit the City of Elmina. Part of the Selangor Vision City (SVC), this 5,000-acre integrated township development is situated next to the 2,700-acre Subang Lake Dam Forest Reserve.

Developed by Sime Darby Property, the City of Elmina is (COE) the only township in Malaysia that boasts a 300-acre Central Park and 480 acres of local parks. There are five different park concepts planned within the Central Park i.e. Forest park, Cultural Park, Urban Park, Community Park, and Sports Park that will soon open to the public.

Currently, the 36-acre Community Park has been completed and was recently named the “Elmina TN50 Community Park” by the Ministry of Youth and Sports - a testament that the city is modelled towards the wellness and healthy lifestyle of future generations. The public will be able to enjoy various facilities such as an arboretum, open-air food and beverage outlets, a public art area, playgrounds and sporting fields, when the Central Park is fully completed. Below are 4 things you can do here to keep your health and wellness in check.

1. Challenge Your Physical Capability

If you’re a runner or a cyclist, you are going to love this place. The COE will have a 90km cycling and running track once completed. To be precise, there will be 45km of neighbourhood cycling tracks, and another 45km city-wide track which links the different phases within the township.

To date, the cycling and running track is approximately 25% completed, and will consist of urban roads and rough terrains. Designed based on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, the track will be accompanied with landscaped buffers to ensure the safety of the residents/public from traffic along motorised vehicle roads.

2. Immerse Yourself in Nature

Looking for an ideal getaway from the tribulations of the city life? Well, look no further. Whether you’re alone, with family or friends, there is so much that you can do here, like a picnic lunch by the lake, a gentle stroll, and even yoga. These will help you stay connected with nature and enhance your well-being.

3. Join the Community Garden

Another great thing about COE is that it has a community garden. As a homeowner here, you’re entitled to apply for a respective garden plot (first come first served basis), where residents will be encouraged to plant herbs, vegetables or fruits.

This is a great initiative by the developer to foster a sense of community. Besides being a place to retreat from the commotion of the everyday urban environment, it’s also a great way for residents to utilise their skills, while discovering new gardening talents. As for the public, you can expect a fresh market concept in the near future.

4. Discover Rare and Threatened Plant Species

Are you a nemophilist? Would you like to learn more about the rainforest? Then this is the place for you. The Elmina Living Heritage Park (part of the Forest Park within the Central Park) is a reforestation project focusing on replanting and conserving endangered plants with the help of the Tropical Rainforest Conservation Research Centre. There are about 360 endangered, rare and threatened (ERT) species that have been planted in the park as part of the conservation efforts.

To date, 8 out of 16 large mature trees have been transplanted from Bukit Jelutong. Other plants that can be found here are Shorea and Hopea, genus of plants in the Dipterocarpaceae family, or tropical lowland rainforest trees. If you’re lucky you may also stumble upon small orange-headed flamingos. We must say that it is a great way to experience a forest environment through the park.

BONUS - A Great Place to Call Home

Imagine coming back home to this haven - a place that offers serenity through its lush greeneries and is close to the city centre. COE is able to provide you with that kind of lifestyle as it offers freehold landed homes such as Elmina Green 1 & Semanea Hills.

With land sizes starting from 20’ x 70’ and spacious open plan layouts, homeowners will have the flexibility to decorate and furnish their homes according to their preferences. Additionally, it is without a doubt that the homes here can cater to different generations alike, as they offer both classic and modern styles. Click here to know more about available units.

It is actually a very tranquil location. Actually not a bad choice to invest in as it has potential to grow into a next place-to-be.
