KELANA JAYA (July 3, 2018) - A joint-organised conference by Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REHDA), Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), and Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) with official support from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the 10th edition of the International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities 2018 (WCSC 2018) is happening again this year on September 27, 2018 (Thursday) at the InterContinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

2018’s series of the WCSC conference will feature the theme ‘Kuala Lumpur: Today & Beyond’, highlighting on how the city can be reinvented to provide a better quality of life in an improved urban environment. This includes a conducive, inclusive, and affordable living environment, excellent connectivity, and ample outdoor public spaces set within a more environmental-friendly city setting.

Today’s city inhabitants are facing continuous challenges and pressure for further economic growth and stronger competitive advantage. This situation prompts cities, like Kuala Lumpur, to find solutions on how to balance the need to provide a sustainable infrastructure and environment within the city, and the affordability gap that meets the unwavering trend of continuous migration and growth of population in the city. Implementation and reassessment of policies and innovative solutions are much needed, hence, the New Urban Agenda is proposed.

WCSC 2018 will continue to explore how Kuala Lumpur and other cities in Malaysia can prepare for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges, to be more liveable, resilient, inclusive and sustainable, through better planning, technology and social innovations towards implementing the New Urban Agenda for all.
