It’s time to knock up your daily steps with these amazing hiking trails you can find in Malaysia. If you are looking to burn off some MCO-thicness or soul searching outside of your five-minute shower, we have a pretty sexy list to get you into that Langkawi bod. Hiking in the woods can be quite intimidating as it presents some concerns so we have even included an App so you do not get lost (unintentionally).

Calling all Shah Alam residents, there is a brilliant hiking spot in your neighbourhood. About an eight-minute drive from Eco Ardence and past some shop lots, there is a hiking trail next to Setia Perdana and Setia Utama.


Bukit Setia Alam, Shah Alam

Bukit Setia Alam is a 3.9 kilometre trail that has delicious views. The difficulty is moderate with slow ascending inclines. It is suitable for new hikers to enjoy some peace and quiet or a getaway-like Instagram post. It is populated with many beautiful wildflowers and big spacious views. Some residents of Setia Alam have mentioned the positive effects it has on their health making Setia Alam a go-to residential area for any new family to begin their new lives. It promotes a healthier lifestyle to optimise the demands of work. To cool off, you can enjoy the small waterfalls on the trail as you make your way to the spectacular view at the Peak Garden viewpoint.

Making your way to Mirror Lake will give you an opportunity to challenge yourself. Make sure you snap a photo of the trail map at the entrance of the hiking trail and record your hike to help other hikers mark new trails. Some hikers have logged 10 kilometres of hiking off-trail. We highly recommend this trail for a free and easy hike for you and your family.


Bukit Kledang, Ipoh

Bukit Kledang is located in Ipoh, Perak.

Taking it up a notch, we have Bukit Kledang in Ipoh, Perak. This trail is known for its long 9.3 kilometre trail. The difficulty of this trail is high but you will be rewarded with a refreshing waterfall. It’s a destination for hikers and mountain bikers from all over the country. At about 3 kilometres from the starting point, you will reach a viewpoint that overlooks all of Ipoh. It’s one of the most breathtaking views accompanied by blooming flowers along the way.

If you are considering climbing Mount Kinabalu, this is the perfect training ground. It is a challenging hike that will test your stamina and balance. It has an overall elevation of 817 meters. If you are looking for a leisurely walk, the main trail is primarily tar road with an exercise corner after a short stairs climb. The view from the exercise point is unobstructed and a lovely spot for a great workout outdoors.


Ketumbar Hill, Cheras

With more people enjoying the work from home process, many people who live in the city centre are choosing to move to Cheras. Looking for a good workout? We’ve got you covered. Ketumbar Hill in Cheras is located near Cheras Ria. It’s a great beginner level hike that you can do everyday. The peak has a good view of Kuala Lumpur city paired with a little workout spot. It spans 2.1 kilometres and a slow elevation that can give you that evening walk.

It’s famous for its wildlife with wild boars and birds freely roaming around the area. Ketumbar Hill is home to tall Pulai trees as well. There is parking available near the Temple with a fee of RM2. Many people come here with family for daily walks and the scenic view from the lookout point. We encourage you to try this trail if you are a first-timer and would like to incorporate some outdoor activities with your family. According to our data, we know that more people have interest in Cheras due to its affordability and accessibility. With it’s close proximity to nature, we also can assume that people are finding Cheras an optimal place to buy a home.


Rimba Riang, Kota Damansara

Harmoni Trail is part of the incredible Forest Reserve off Rimba Riang in Kota Damansara. It is rated as an easy trail with a long stretch of road to set you off on your hike. Following the trail will take you through two rest stops that connect with the Unity Trail. Unity is where the climb to the peak begins. After crossing two small streams you will begin to ascend and the trail markers will begin to disappear. We highly recommend using the app to help you along your way.

The way to the summit is a bit of a tricky one. It is a lot of adventure, searching your way through the two valleys while following a drainage pipe. Once you reach the peak called Unity Peak, you will be rewarded with scenic mountain views and the incredible properties of Kota Damansara. Kota Damansara is known for its affordable rent prices and united community feeling. Definitely a hike worth doing when looking for a great balance between suburban life and nature.


Mount Pulai, Kulai

Mount Pulai, Kulai, Johor.

Let’s end with a bucket list hike for the adventure seekers. Mount Pulai located in Kulai, Johor, is rated moderate to difficult with its hike spanning 14.3 kilometres. Although, due to it being a tourist destination, the hike provides a tar road option that allows you to travel back at any point. There are small ponds along the way filled with lotuses and colourful fishes.

It’s a hike with beautiful canopies that will fly above you with butterflies and flowers to add colour to your walk. There is no peak as it is reserved for a communication tower but this walk will reward you with a waterfall to cool your feet off at the end. It is also a well-known picnic spot where many families enjoy meals accompanied by the sounds of rushing water. There are additional trails that you can take that will increase in difficulty.
