Taman Banting Baru is a neighbourhood located in Banting, Selangor with residential homes built amidst wide open spaces and lush greenery. Taman Banting Baru may be a relatively old neighbourhood but there are public facilities and amenities nearby which consists mostly of shop lots. There have in the past been a couple of major crime cases that happened in this area, where in 2010 there was a murder case which resulted in the death of cosmetics millionaire Datuk Sosilawati and three others. One of the most recent cases that terrified the neighbourhood in July 2014 was when a resident fired with an air pistol. Upon arrival, a team of policemen and K9 tracker dogs tracked and stormed a car exhaust shop and arrested three suspects. The victim of the air pistol shot was then brought to the Banting Hospital and found to be in stable condition.
