About Batu Ferringhi

Properties for Sale in Batu Ferringhi

Batu Ferringhi is the second most popular town on the island of Penang, which has gained its name from the beautiful sandy beaches in the area which offer unimpeded views of the Malacca Straits. It is the island’s most well-known stretch of beach with a high concentration of beach resorts. Beginning in the mid 1970s till the early 1990s, a great number of beach resorts have been developed along the shores of Batu Ferringhi, followed by many other high rise condominiums in the area.

In recent years, the area has become home to some of the most luxurious landed and non-landed residential properties on the Penang island. These include the hilltop villas and bungalows of Moonlight Bay, Ferringhi Villas, and Hilltop Villas, luxurious La Ferringhi terraces and so much more. Older properties include The Reef condominiums, Aquarius apartments and others. There are also an array of residential developments proposed in the area, which includes Iconic Vue condominiums under affordable housing efforts, The Oceanus ultra-luxurious mansions, Ferringhi Residence 2 condo-villas and many more.

The popular stretch of beach situated on the North end of Penang is a tourist hotspot with many amenities, attractions and activities in the area for convenience, fun and leisure. With these, residents living in the area have and can continue benefitting from the ever-growing number of amenities such as mini markets, eateries, banks, petrol stations and much more.

However, choices of educational institutions in the area are only limited to the International School of Penang (Uplands) and Tenby Schools Penang. The nearest hospital is also the Gleneagles hospital, inconveniently located in Georgetown. However, there are a number of clinics within the town of Batu Ferringhi for minor emergency matters.

Batu Ferringhi is approximately 30 minutes by car from Georgetown via Jalan Tanjung Bungah, also known as Route 6. Jalan Tanjung Bungah is also the only road leading into and out of Batu Ferringhi, and is the main road passing through the town of Batu Ferringhi, therefore making it heavily congested during certain hours or days. Traffic is known to be especially heavy at night during public holidays and weekends due to the very popular night market set up along the main road, Jalan Batu Ferringhi.

Hence, living in Batu Ferringhi may not be the best choice for those working in the city centre or Bayan Lepas. Investments of properties in the area may also be more suited as holiday homes or homestays while the market for longer leases may only be limited to expatriates or retirees.
