Kampung Sungai Tiram is a neighbourhood consisting of some terrace homes, several shop lots and a few factories in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Residents of the terrace homes within the neighbourhood are mostly those who work in the industrial areas in Bayan Lepas. The shop lots mostly house convenience stores and eateries catering to the general population living there. Hence, amenities within Kampung Sungai Tiram are numerous, including the aforementioned eateries and convenience stores as well as a petrol station, a mosque, Masjid Jamek Sungai Tiram and a temple, the Sree Veeramuthu Maha Temple. Other amenities can be found at the commercial hub adjacent of the neighbourhood, where banks and even more eateries can be found. There is also a Giant hypermarket and Queensbay Mall in nearby Bayan Baru. Schools in the vicinities of Kampung Sungai Tiram include SJK (C) Chung Shan, SRK Sri Permai, the Straits International School, SJK (C) Chong Cheng among others. Kampung Sungai Tiram is strategically located along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, parallel to the Penang International Airport. Hence, the neighbourhood is just minutes away from the Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone as well as the town of Bayan Baru. Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah can also connect to Batu Maung, Jelutong, the first Penang bridge as well as Georgetown, which is about 20 minutes northbound. With its location close to Bayan Lepas, Kampung Sungai Tiram appeals to those working in the many factories and offices located in the Free Trade Zone. However, the noise from airplanes landing and taking off from the nearby airport may be a deterrent to those who seek calmer and quieter residences.
