“Your network is your nett worth.” These wise words were imparted by Steve Wee, Personal Branding Strategist, to the agents who attended PropSocial’s Agent’s Day in Common Ground @ Damansara Heights on 18 July 2018. Wee, the founder of Brand Yourself Agency, was the key speaker for PropSocial’s Agent Day, where he shared interesting stories and tidbits of his experiences, as well as a remarkable lesson on how to build your own personal branding.

Agents from all over Klang Valley showed up for PropSocial’s Agent’s Day, and it was an excellent opportunity for many to network with new friends, catch up on the past, and to explore new avenues and experiences in the future.

RHB was also there to share a little bit about their newly launched RHB Partners app. The new RHB Partners app presents an all-in-one mortgage mobile application that agents and real-estate practitioners can use to make their transactions and procedures much easier. Agents can refer their clients to RHB via the app and said agents will also be rewarded!

Our very own PropSocial representative, Sam Leng, took the floor after, providing a brief introduction about PropSocial as well as our current limited-time only agent’s package of RM188. For only RM188, agents will get 188 credits and 80 bonus credits to be used on our website, which can be used to buy leads, boost their listings, and such. A mini quiz and lucky draw was also held, where winners walked away with a limited edition PropSocial tote bag.

After a quick break, it was the highlight of the evening: Steve Wee’s presentation on effective personal branding. With a quick, funny, and light-hearted demeanour, he captivated everyone in the room and all eyes were glued on him from the start till end. Interactive and energetic, the session began with a simple 5-minute networking exercise among the guests. Why?

“The purpose of networking is to get to know people, to expand on business opportunities, to market yourself, and most importantly, to leverage on your network for opportunities,” explained Wee. The gist of it all was on how a person’s personal branding can help them build better networks, better connections, and thus, a better future.

As for tips for personal branding, he provided these helpful tips: firstly, always look like you are meant to do big things in life - like the way you dress. You should also have good communication skills, as this is key to building your network. Not just that, but you need to present yourself properly to increase likeability - for example, if you’re known to have a poker-face, you’d need to work on that so you look more approachable. Always put yourself at the right place, at the right time, and meeting the right people; even if it means waiting an hour for a golden opportunity. And lastly, don’t stop building your image, but keep sustaining it.

Following those wise words of advice, he also shared his experience of going to networking sessions not just every week, but 5-7 times a week. It may seem tiring to most, but he explains that, “You need to build trust with familiarity. If you only see that person once, you’ll forget them. But if you see that person 3-4 times, you will feel familiar with them.” Hence, building trust with familiarity.

Personal branding is, not to forget, about having etiquette as well. This means saying good morning, thank you, how are you, to everyone you encounter - from high-flying friends to even the office janitors or the person manning the cash register. Simple etiquette is as easy as that, and it creates an imprint in their mind of this person, and as the saying goes, a little goes a long way.

We’d like to thank everyone for joining this agent’s day! If you would like to register your early bird seats for our upcoming agent day, do send us an email at support@propsocial.com with your name, REN/REA number, and contact number.
