Section 13 is another one of the many commercial hubs in Petaling Jaya, tenanted mostly by factories and offices. The resident shopping mall is Jaya One, while some of the most popular restaurants in the area which causes massive traffic congestion during weekends is the Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant. Recently recognised to be a land mine of gold, many developers began to purchase empty parcels of land in this area to build small, tiny apartments by the name of SoHos’ and SoVos’ to be sold at ridiculously and laughably high prices. The crowning glory of upcoming developments in Section 13 is the Fraser & Neaves (F&N) factory in the area, which was razed to the ground to make way for a brand new mixed development which will include residential towers, a hotel, retail lots and offices. The traffic congestion in the area is already worse than bad during peak hours, and when the roadside restaurants have events, unethical motorists render the roads almost unusable by parking their cars as and where they please; many of which the patrons of the restaurants blatantly park in front of resident’s gates, preventing the residents from leaving their homes.
