Taman Pearl is a neighbourhood that emerged as a result of Bukit Mertajam developing outwards. It is situated in a quieter part of the town, with rows of single- and double-storey terrace houses, as well as shop lots housing several coffee shops and offices, among other businesses.

Most of the commercial activities nearby to Taman Pearl are focused around Jalan Berapit, the main road of the area.
