Batu 9 Cheras is a town in Cheras which falls under the state of Selangor, despite Cheras being commonly referred to as being a part of Kuala Lumpur. Properties in Batu 9 Cheras comes in a various forms and it ranges from the likes of single storey terrace houses to high-density condominiums.

While Cheras is known to be predominantly populated by the Chinese ethnic group, the ethnic majority of Batu 9 Cheras is rather evenly spread between the Malays and Chinese ethnicity.

Residents have also mentioned that they like living in Batu 9 Cheras in spite of traffic conditions due to its location. Shopping malls are plentiful within its vicinity, as are popular restaurants which are also commonly visited by non-residents.

While the entirety of Cheras is generally plagued with petty crime such as snatch thefts and house break-ins, Batu 9 Cheras enjoys a lower rate of crime as compared to its neighbours. The only issues that the authorities generally face in this area are pirated DVD dens which are constantly raided by the police.

The worst of crimes to have ever visited Batu 9 Cheras is however rather chilling, when an ex-convict who had been in and out of prison several times was inexplicably shot to death by a John Doe in his house in August 2013.

Crime rates aside, Batu 9 Cheras is also known to have a number of hiking trails at Batu Apek where beautifully clean rivers and waterfalls can be found within this virtually untouched segment of nature.

For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.363% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 1.633% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.308% in the year 2014 while surging by 3.019% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 104.1 in 2012, 105.8 in 2013, 109.3 in 2014, 112.6 in 2015.

Traffic to KL is congested everyday, especially in Leisure Mall area. It is quite a convenience area, cause have everything, eg shopping mall, banks, retail lots and many more. But safety is not that good.
