Glenmarie is a low-density township located in Shah Alam, Selangor. The area houses a healthy mix of homes with various layouts and commercial hubs. It used to be a place that seems like a passer-by town, the township now provides a roof under many people’s head, and plenty of conveniences.

Originally founded in 1994 with the help of DRB-Hicom, the town boasts a large golf and country club. With a 36-hole golf course, the club has won several awards and accolades. Not only that, the golf club is very well known to be a haven to many, from leisure golfers to international competitions that are organized here.

The homes here give off a vibe of luxury and exclusivity. The town’s residential area consists mostly of semi-detached homes, while there are some high-rise residences located at the end of the township. Development is still ongoing within the area, with some projects due for completion in a few years time.

Some of the homes here are secured under a gated and guarded security system, which is an added advantage. There are also commercial hubs that house a Holiday Inn hotel, KIP Politeknik U1 Shah Alam, and the DRB-Hicom Berhad headquarters, just to name a few.

The extension of the township is the Hicom-Glenmarie Industrial Park, consisting of factories and some shop-offices. The industrial park is well known for housing the KDU University College Glenmarie Campus, which can be an option for residents to send their children to for tertiary education.

One of the main highlights of the township would be its proximity to many of Klang Valley’s districts, such as Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong, Klang and Subang Jaya. Through these districts, residents will be able to find tonnes of amenities. They are able to reach Kuala Lumpur in less than half an hour as well, and similarly down south to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Glenmarie, being a township sandwiched by other famous townships, can be easily accessed via most of the Klang Valley’s major highways, which include the likes of the Federal Highway, the North-South Highway (NSE), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP). Should driving be a hassle, there is the Glenmarie Light Rail Transit (LRT) station at the entrance of the township, which one can take advantage of.

Consumer Price Index

This is a representation of Selangor Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the year of 2011 - 2015

Did you know?

A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of a market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. (Wikipedia)

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.644% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 2.093% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.448% in the year 2014 while surging by 2.523% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.
