Known to be one of the older residential areas in Petaling Jaya, Section 8 hosts a combination of single storey terrace houses, double storey terrace houses, shop lots, a school and a commercial development by the name of 8th Avenue.

There is a concentration of car repair shops in the area which occupy the shop lots, followed by eateries. These homes in Section 8 of Petaling Jaya are not as widely desired as the homes in the other sections in Petaling Jaya, as they are rather small and old.
