Menara Dayabumi is the first modern building in Kuala Lumpur to incorporate principles of Islamic design into its architecture. Set along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, Menara Dayabumi is a major landmark in Kuala Lumpur as it was one of the city’s first skyscrapers. Menara Dayabumi was designed by Malay architect Nik Mohammed and was built to resemble a mosque with a pattern of eight-pointed stars, high vaulted Islamic arches at the top and bottom of the tower, and shiny white framework interlaced with carved decorative designs. Menara Dayabumi used to house the headquarters of the country's national oil company Petronas before they moved to the Petronas Twin Towers. Now, the development is home to several commercial offices.
