Built in what was once a tin-mining town and a rubber estate, Bandar Puchong Utama is a part of the township of Puchong which is currently undergoing rapid development.

Bandar Puchong Utama is an integrated development with residential, commercial and industrial areas located within its premises. One of its main access routes is through the Damansara - Puchong Expressway (LDP) of which traffic congestions are a common occurrence here, at all times of the day.

While most of the units here cater to those from the middle income group, the prices of units here has seen a steady incline over the years due to development. Additionally, the density of Puchong in general has seen an exponential growth and it is now a high density township.

Bandar Puchong Utama also has several industrial areas located within a short drive away. In general, Puchong has also seen a rise in the development of commercial outlets. With the recent completion of developments such as Setia Walk which offers an urban and modern design within a short driving distance, Bandar Puchong Utama is set to attract the younger generation of those in the workforce.

The above graph shows 1.644% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 2.093% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.448% in the year 2014 while surging by 2.523% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.
